I have quite a few plans for Kathexis for this year which will hopefully happen by summer. For now, there are some new profiles (Tikal, Chaos, Mephiles).

Metal and RK's profiles updated today and yesterday, respectively! Silver's will be done on the 24th, Kie's on the 1st of December, and Akoda's on the 23rd of December.

I've done something reprehensible. I installed a PHP-based image gallery CMS to try out instead of the static art gallery I had going on my last update. And what's worse? I think I like it.

I have an intense hatred for content management systems; some elicit more hatred from me (*cough, Wordpress, cough*) than others, but they are all lazy. So it sort of feels like I've sold my soul. However... as with the guestbook from Bravenet, I just don't have the willpower (or, at the moment, knowledge) to write my own gallery system from scratch, which is the only condition under which a CMS can be used without guilt, in my opinion. Faced with this, I chose the least deplorable and most flexible system that I think will suit my needs here, which is an older version of Gallery from 2004.

So, with the guestbook, this makes the second major instance of laziness on my part on this site. I feel pretty guilty. I think the decreased tediousness of maintaining a current, well-organised art archive outweighs the guilt, though.

So enough with the monologue, the new gallery is located here (sidebar's been updated too.) Everything from the previous art page has been moved into the Illustrations gallery, everything from the concepts directory into Concepts. (I will be updating this album instead of said directory.) RSS feeds are there if anyone's interested, there's a nifty search feature that works rather well, and navigating between items can be done with the left and right arrow keys on your keyboard. I would enable registration for commenting but I know there's no interest XD Anyway, there you have it.

In other news, still working on that timeline.

Look, I'm a liar! What a surprise *shot* Yeah. Nothing's been updated since I added the last update but I have been working on stuff.

More importantly, the site is now settled at heliohost. There may be a few broken links and such, as when I made the backup from bluehost, it didn't work completely--it only grabbed parts of a few directories. I will fix these as I find them, but if someone finds one I've missed, please let me know! Also, you may notice slightly longer loading times now. Heliohost is a free host and deals with a lot of traffic, but they do a great job, so I really can't complain.

Come some time in July, Kathexis will be moving to another webhost--not because I'm displeased with bluehost, but because I'm broke. :D This should not affect visitors in any way whatsoever. However, should worse come to worse and I become somehow unable to cough up the money to register the kathexis.org domain for the year, the site will be (temporarily) located at http://kathexis.heliohost.org/. (There's nothing there yet...)

So, uh, yep. Just thought I'd go ahead and post this so there's fair warning.

I got around to adding a guestbook, because after all, I never have enough things to neglect. ..ahem. Yeah. I'd like to know who has been here in addition to friends I link this site to :D I meant to keep one since the first iteration of this site, but I forgot :P Go sign!

v1.1 launch: Layout was modified. Uses more images, but it's not dependent on them so it's okay. Splash page changed. Most importantly, stopped using PHP... I guess I was kidding myself when I said I would go back to learning PHP programming. Since I only ever used it for server-side includes and some basic dynamic content, moving to plain html isn't much of a problem. SSI always handled includes just fine, so I'm back to using that... and while I still hate the messiness that is Javascript, it is more than capable of handling the tiny amount of dynamic content on here. The timeline date [which is now on the sidebar of all pages instead of just the home page] being a prime example.

Also, starting with this update, I'm bumping old news off the main page once it reaches a certain age or number of entries. Archived news entries go here.

Also also, news entries will now be accompanied by a sprite of my choosing :D Hi, Sonic!
